Greetings from Music City! What a busy and wonderful year NAAEYC has had so far. We have a wonderful, diverse, committed Board that has turned out some awesome activities. Our strategic goals for the year are (1) increased inclusiveness and involvement, (2) a clear purpose and structure, (3) increased direct membership services, (4) financial stability and growth, and (5) to be recognized as an effective advocacy organization. We will have a Board retreat in the Fall to see how well we have done!
We have had two membership/training meetings since January. Three great newsletters have gone out with a wonderful new "look." Our Week of the Young Child activities included a concert/picnic for children at the Kennedy Center and a Teacher Appreciation Night among other events. A spirited Worth Wage Rally was held at Legislative Plaza on May 1, highlighted by a children's concert with Rachel Summer. The Director's Day Conference was held May 9 with good attendance and very positive feedback from participants. There will be two more membership/training events later this year.
We will once again host our annual Early Childhood Education conference set for August 25-26 at Brentwood United Methodist Church. The theme is "Build Me A Future". The keynote speakers are Monica Mowdy and Cheri Lindsley, and 10 hours of training will be available.
We look forwarding to see all of you in October when the annual TAEYC conference is held here in Nashville! It is going to be a fun and exciting conference - Music City style!
